Artist Enquiries

PERFORMERS AND ARTIST MANAGERS

Opportunities for concerts with Musica Viva are extremely limited and highly sought-after. Due to the overwhelming number of enquiries we receive, unfortunately we are not able to reply individually.

However, you are welcome to send a short email (max 450 words, text only) to artists@musicaviva.com.au giving an overview of what you do; your performing experience; any other relevant information, such as your website; and full contact details including your usual location. For example, you might tell us you are a string quartet based in Sydney, and go on to briefly outline your significant achievements.

All proposals will be read and considered by the relevant Manager or Director. Those of potential interest will be kept on file in case a suitable opportunity presents itself, in which case we will contact you for more information.

Please do not make a follow-up enquiry. You will receive an auto-reply email as acknowledgement. If you feel a significant change has occurred since your previous contact (eg you’ve won a major international competition), please feel free to email us again, following the same outline given above.

We have put this protocol in place in order to manage our own resources, but also to avoid wasting the time and energy of artists and managers.

Please note that we do not usually offer tours to groups larger than four or five artists. We are unlikely to present jazz, world music and popular music artists in our main stage concert activities.

COMPOSERS

As Musica Viva is a presenter and has no resident ensemble, we have limited scope to offer opportunities for composers. Contemporary music, including newly commissioned work, is a significant part of what we offer on stage, but we would recommend that composers build relationships with performers rather than approaching us directly.

We are not able to reply to individual proposals nor to return materials. If you are an Australian composer and have a number of works in or close to a standard chamber format (for example, string quartet, piano trio) you are welcome to send a short CD sampler of these works and a one-page curriculum vitae. The CD can be sent to:
