SIMON TEDESCHI Piano
IAN COOPER Violin
The famed classical pianist Simon Tedeschi and jazz violinist Ian Cooper are touring regional centres! Both musicians are virtuosos with the ability to perform the great classical repertoire as well as improvise on the coolest jazz. Having just returned from 5 years in the USA, Simon Tedeschi is a musical chameleon, known Australia-wide for his phenomenal artistry and technical wizardry. Ian Cooper has been dazzling audiences for decades, as a performer and raconteur in the spirit of Stephane Grappelli.
Performing everything from Bach to swingin' jazz, these two masters have taken Australia by storm with their consummate skill and love of performing. Equally at home in concert halls or country churches, Ian Cooper and Simon Tedeschi are a musical sensation, leaving audiences on their feet and calling for more.
Program includes works by Stephane Grappelli, Rachmaninoff, Mozart, Gershwin, Percy Grainger, Grieg, Saint Saëns, Django Reinhardt & Fats Waller.
“Putting Tedeschi and Cooper together is like mixing nitro with glycerine - an explosion of musical virtuosity” James Morrison
“Sparks seem to fly from every note of Ian Cooper's violin and Simon Tedeschi's piano, thanks to some very personal black magic in the way both conjure up their sounds...the program as a whole boasts an engaging blend of surprise and familiarity. This is smile-making music.” John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald

Simon and Ian are also available for masterclasses and workshops in which they show us the principles and techniques that lie beneath their seemingly effortless performances. Simon demonstrates principles of piano tone, touch and technique. Ian looks at jazz improvisation as a spontaneous combination of composition and performance. Together they show the similarities and differences between classical and jazz; the contrasting ways of understanding rhythm; how to perform under pressure; and most importantly, how to have fun on stage!
These are best done on the morning after the performance.
Technical Requirements:
A good quality, tuned concert piano.
2 microphones on stands and a P.A. sufficient for Simon & Ian to communicate easily with the audience.
