SWINGING AND SCATTING
performed by Adam Hall and the Velvet Players

High-energy jazz and blues

Adam Hall and the Velvet Players explore the melodies and toe-tapping rhythms of jazz, blues and rumba styles using well-known tunes and original works. Students will be enthralled by their instrumental and vocal flexibility and the ease of their improvisational skills. The music features smooth soulful sounds similar to that of Afro-American bands from the 1950s.

A five-piece jazz ensemble from Western Australia, this popular group specialises in a high-energy, entertaining brand of jazz and blues.

Join them for an adventure of swinging and scatting.

Swinging and Scatting is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
