SOUNDS OF THE AUSTRALIAN SPIRIT
performed by Collusion

A musical story of inspiration and transportation

Be transported by the sounds and images of the Australian spirit with a program of music from many contemporary Brisbane composers including Nigel Sabin, Sarah Hopkins and Andrew Shultz. This dynamic quartet will take you through the familiar landscapes of a city and the outback, as well as through different time periods of Australian history using a diverse repertoire including contemporary, jazz and classical music.

Young people will be inspired by Collusion to perform and compose their own music through this engaging performance.

Collusion is a dynamic Australian quartet performing on the piano, viola, clarinet and cello.

Sounds of the Australian Spirit is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
