A cookbook of delicious songs
We invite you into the musical kitchen of three of Queensland’s finest professional singers as they turn up the heat in an engaging performance of collected and original songs. Expressing their own joy of singing, the music is influenced by each performer’s passion: Anje’s immersion in Brazilian music, Leah’s love of the folk tradition and Barbara’s swinging jazz style.
Gypsy Tober will give your students a unique experience collaborating in the creation of a new song in each performance, layering harmony, rhythm and storytelling; the fundamentals of a cappella singing.
Enjoyment is at the core of all learning. With an inspiring balance between the drive of the clave, the fun of the hand-jive, and the sweet soulfulness of the African-American spiritual, Cooking with Gas is a fun and enjoyable lesson in singing.
Cooking with Gas! is a Live Performance Plus performance.
Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.
The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.
The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.
In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
“There are many people who can come in and provide wonderful concerts and activities for the children but there are very few that actually provide the support and the guidance and the inservicing for the staff before it happens. ”
