SMALL WORLD - BIG VOICE
performed by Humming Birds

The best in a cappella singing

Small World – Big Voice delves into the realms of popular singing from gospel to soul, blues to folk and doo-wop to lullabies – all in fabulous four-part harmony. Accessible to all ages this performance celebrates the instrument everyone can play – the voice. Using well known music that has stood the test of time, students will engage with the songs, dances and hand jives of this energetic performance.

Songs include Iko Iko, Big Yellow Taxi, Juba as well as mash-ups like Blue Moon/Sh-Boom. The Humming Birds will inspire every student to sing and create a buzz around the school that will last for a very long time.

Small World - Big Voice is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
