A funky spread of groovy jazz with a twist of Latin spice

Marmalade Jam presents a vibrant, energetic and funky performance with a twist. The Afro-Latin jazz quartet comprises vocals, piano, bass and drum kit with a variety of percussion instruments. The highly melodic compositions and creative arrangements of popular, folk and jazz songs are inspired by Cuban song, Brazilian samba, southern gospel and traditional Celtic sounds, are then minced through an Australian blender for a truly unique performance.

The group draws on a wealth of professional musical experience, from big band jazz to Broadway musicals, from children’s entertainment to opera, from heavy rock to salsa, with almost everything in between.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
