MUSIC FROM THE CELTIC LANDS
performed by Ogham Soup

Celtic dance-music, jigs and reels

Ogham Soup (pronounced “Owem”) presents a performance of traditional Celtic dance music, jigs and reels. This is enhanced by the ensemble using modern rhythmic sounds recently popular in Ireland. Combining different instruments to create a constantly changing texture, students can expect the usual vocals, fiddle and guitar and be introduced to the bodhran (boh-ran), the mandolin and the didgeridoo!

Join us for a journey to the Celtic Lands!

Music from the Celtic Lands is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
