MUSIC WITHOUT BORDERS
performed by Ozmosis

Hispanic, Balkan and jazz inspired original music from the global fringe

Ozmosis is a West Australian quartet of intrepid border-crossers. The group draws upon their vast experience of Hispanic, Latin American and Balkan music to create vibrant performance using original compositions. Masters of a surprising array of traditional and invented woodwinds, strings and percussion, the ensembles performances are laced with jazz improvisation and delightful spontaneous audience interaction. The Hispanic and Balkan threads in the music reflect the personalities, histories and interests of the players. Drawing upon their experiences, the group creates a wild and wonderful intercontinental journey, extending beyond tradition and geographic boundaries.

The members of Ozmosis have orchestral, jazz and world music backgrounds. It is by a process of osmosis that much of their music is
created, as the players bring their considerable musicianship, experience and vitality to this exciting and innovative musical performance.

This truly is music without borders!

Music Without Borders is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.

There are many people who can come in and provide wonderful concerts and activities for the children but there are very few that actually provide the support and the guidance and the inservicing for the staff before it happens.
