An internationally recognised ensemble in its own right, the Song Company presents a vocal time machine. 1000 Years of Song takes students on a journey through cultures, languages and history using the simplicity, beauty and versatility of the human voice. Blending old and new, the Song Company begin with sacred and secular song and move through to popular tunes like Sing a Song of Sixpence and a contemporary arrangement of Waltzing Matilda using Indigenous languages. This is a rare opportunity to have a world class ensemble perform in your school.

1,000 Years of Song is a Live Performance Plus performance.

Live Performance Plus offers the unique experience of Live Performance by a professional music ensemble at your school, supported by professional development for teachers plus resources for teaching music in your classrooms.

The Professional Development is a three hour session held in a venue close to a number of participating schools.

The Teaching Resources incorporate a variety of activities related to the music of the live performance ensemble, which together can create a term of lessons. The resources link to literacy, numeracy and ICT for all ages from lower primary through to junior secondary. Also included are an audio CD with the ensemble’s music, activities and support materials.

In 2012 Live Performance Plus will include NEW interactive resources for the digital classroom. These resources are cross-platform and will operate on interactive whiteboards, or on computers and with data projectors. They are complimentary to the existing resources and provide engaging activities for your students understanding as well as quality teaching.
