David Paul Landa Scholarship
Musica Viva is proud to manage David Paul Landa Scholarship on behalf of the New South Wales Government
The Scholarship is a biennial travelling scholarship for pianists valued at $25,000 funded by the New South Wales Government in recognition of the contribution made to the arts by the late Paul Landa QC MP, former Attorney General in New South Wales. The scholarship includes subsequent public concert engagements for Musica Viva.
Paul Landa lived a short but extraordinary life. He held seven portfolios under the NSW State Government, to all of which he brought energy and his natural zest for accomplishment. His devotion to the arts was complete and unfeigned, and as a Minister assisting the Premier in the Arts portfolio he supported and encouraged many young artists and musicians. Under his guidance the national parks of New South Wales doubled in size, and he played an important role in public debates on civil liberties and human rights. He died unexpectedly and tragically at the age of 43.
“Past Scholarships recipients include some of Australia’s most renowned performers and teachers including Anna Goldsworthy, Maxwell Foster, Tamara Anna Cislowska, Duncan Gifford, Paul Rickard-Ford, Clemens Leske Jnr and Edward Neeman.
