For many years BHP Billiton Community Trust has supported our Across the Top tour bringing music education to schools from Broome to Kununurra in Western Australia, to Katherine and Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory and across to Ayr and Rockhampton in Queensland. On this tour we also present concerts and educational workshops to the broader local community. In 2008 Musica Viva’s CountryWide series, with generous funding from BHP Billiton Community Trust, brought 110 concerts to regional communities across Australia. Sirocco, a Musica Viva In Schools professional ensemble, presented music education concerts to 14 remote, regional schools from Millars Well Public School in Karratha to primary schools in Dampier, South Hedland, Port Hedland, Broome, Derby, Kununurra and Wyndham and including two high schools in Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.
