Private Ancillary Funds

A Private Ancillary Fund (previously known as a Prescribed Private Fund) is a flexible, tax-effective form of charitable trust used by individuals and families to manage wealth and long-term philanthropic giving. In 2010, the Federal Government undertook an extensive review of private trusts and introduced new guidelines. If you are interested in establishing a PAF, please refer to the published guidelines.

Many of Musica Viva’s major donors contribute through their own PAF.

“The Berg Family Foundation was established to ensure that we can continue making a difference to Musica Viva, and the many other organisations we deeply believe in, for many generations to come. A PAF was immediately attractive for a number of reasons. In addition to compelling taxation benefits, the structure enables The Berg Family Foundation to accumulate a ‘corpus’ that will support our philanthropic giving in perpetuity. Setting up our own PAF also meant that we could engage all family members in making a difference through philanthropy. It inspires us to know that The Berg Family Foundation will continue to give to organisations like Musica Viva, and that our children and their children will be its custodians.”

The Berg Family Foundation

The Musica Viva Festival was made possible by the vision, commitment and immense generosity of the Berg Family Foundation. With generous ‘seed’ funding provided by the Berg Family Foundation the launch Festival in 2008 entranced audiences presenting 47 events over five days in four venues across the Sydney CBD.
