Tarogato

A Hungarian woodwind instrument with oriental or Arab origins. It is still much used by folk musicians in Hungary. Originally it had a double reed, but towards the end of the 19th century this was replaced by a single one set in a clarinet-type mouthpiece. The bore is conical and the instrument, although made of wood, resembles a straight soprano saxophone in both appearance and tone colour.
