The Muffat Collective

Book online and join us for the Season

Describing themselves as living, eating, and breathing period music, The Muffat Collective are an exciting quartet of musicians fast making a name for themselves on the Australian music scene. Comprised of violinists Matthew Greco and Rafael Font-Viera, cellist Anton Baba, and harpsichordist Anthony Abouhamad, The Muffat Collective endeavour to present Baroque music in more intimate formats.

For this Sydney Morning Masters concert, the musicians will conjure up the warmth and earthly pleasures of taverns and music rooms from the 17th and 18th centuries with a selection of works by Playford, Purcell, Baltzar, Boyce and Hume, by turns boisterous, reflective, and melancholy. Highlights to look out for include variations by the Collective themselves on two works by Playford, Paul’s Steeple and Stingo, as well as a piece by an unknown composer, the electrifying Nobody’s Jig. Audiences are sure to leave the concert hall with a spring in their step and a twinkle in the eye.
