Game Day!

Music and teamwork

Teamwork makes the dream work in this exploration of sports and music.

What do professional sport and classical music have in common? More than you might think! Join the musicians of Game Day! as they explore the connections between teamwork and performance, music and emotion. Featuring works from the classical repertoire alongside vibrant contemporary music, students will discover how musicians and athletes alike rely on practice, focus, reflection and communication to achieve their goals.

Through interactive activities including movement and dance, Game Day! invites students to reflect on how music can affect emotion, and how nerves and performance anxiety can be managed on performance day. Full of string virtuosity, participation, and unexpected connections, Game Day! presents music as both a collaborative effort, and a powerful form of expression.

"Thank you for what proved to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will be remembered for years to come. The last piece of music evoked a beautiful pathos in the students, so much so that some were almost moved to tears."
— Minerva School SSP, NSW
"What a fabulous experience for the children! After preparing them and familiarising them with the performers and the music, the children were in awe of seeing the performers live in our school! Such a valuable musical experience!"
— Chapman Primary School, ACT
