HOPE — SONG CYCLE
Presented by Jodie O'Regan
7pm, 23 October
UKARIA Cultural Centre
In 2023, mezzo-soprano Sally-Anne Russell took South Australian composer Jodie O’Regan’s setting of Emily Dickinson’s Hope Is the Thing with Feathers from Burra to concert stages around Australia and Europe. Jodie then wrote a complete song cycle for Sally-Anne’s glorious voice, setting poems of birds, water and hope by Dickinson, Hone Tūwhare, Sara Teasdale, Christina Rossetti and Frances Frost.
Sally-Anne brings Hope home to South Australia for its world premiere at UKARIA, joined by soprano Clara Cutri, flautist Linda Pirie, cellist Joseph Freer and harpist Suneetha Carter.
