STRIKE A CHORD

Performing in front of a live audience can change a young musician’s life.

Each year, Strike A Chord gives hundreds of young Australians that moment. 

Their first ensemble.
Their first performance.
Their first connection with peers who share their passion.  

In 2025 alone, 641 young musicians across 170 ensembles took part – from almost every state and territory in Australia – each gaining expert feedback and the confidence to keep making music.  

In 2026, demand is growing – and we need your help to meet it. 

2020 alumna Noah Lawrence, now Cello Fellow with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, credits Strike A Chord with providing a performance opportunity that didn’t otherwise exist for high-school-age musicians:

Strike A Chord continues to grow, but for many access still depends on postcode, school resources and financial circumstance.

With your help, we can ensure more young musicians – no matter where they live – have the chance to participate, perform and grow.

• $200 – supports a student prize, recognising excellence and effort
• $500 – helps deliver expert coaching to emerging ensembles
• $1,000 – contributes to travel subsidies, especially for regional and remote students
