STRIKE A CHORD
Help us bring Strike A Chord 2026 to life
Performing in front of a live audience can change a young musician’s life.
Each year, Strike A Chord gives hundreds of young Australians that moment.
Their first ensemble.
Their first performance.
Their first connection with peers who share their passion.
In 2025 alone, 641 young musicians across 170 ensembles took part – from almost every state and territory in Australia – each gaining expert feedback and the confidence to keep making music.
In 2026, demand is growing – and we need your help to meet it.
Your gift creates real opportunities
When you give, you help young musicians:
- Take the stage – often for the very first time
- Access coaching from leading artists to prepare for their entry and performance
- Overcome distance barriers with travel subsidies, especially for regional and remote students
- Be recognised and rewarded, with over $50,000 in prizes to be won
A pathway to a professional music career
2020 alumna Noah Lawrence, now Cello Fellow with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, credits Strike A Chord with providing a performance opportunity that didn’t otherwise exist for high-school-age musicians:
'It was an important piece of the puzzle in encouraging me to pursue my music career.'

Your support matters now
Strike A Chord continues to grow, but for many access still depends on postcode, school resources and financial circumstance.
With your help, we can ensure more young musicians – no matter where they live – have the chance to participate, perform and grow.
What your donation can do:
- $200 – supports a student prize, recognising excellence and effort
- $500 – helps deliver expert coaching to emerging ensembles
- $1,000 – contributes to travel subsidies, especially for regional and remote students
Or choose an amount that’s meaningful to you – every gift makes a difference and all donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
It takes a village
'It’s so important to support those teachers in those regional and remote communities… and the coaching program that we have for Strike A Chord allows us to do that.'
— Anne Frankenburg, CEO, Musica Viva Australia
