Our Professional Development workshops give you the confidence and tools to deliver music lessons in the classroom. Covering basic elements from the F-10 music curriculum, you will develop skills, ideas, and activities for immediate use. All events are designed for both generalist classroom teachers and music specialists.

All workshops are curriculum aligned to the relevant State music syllabus and aligned to AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers. Musica Viva Australia is a NESA-recommended provider because we currently run programs that are NESA-accredited.

Engaging students in meaningful music-making experiences in the classroom supports creativity and social cohesion. By connecting to local Place, teachers will be encouraged to bring singing, movement, composing and listening experiences into the classroom, with practical ideas and strategies they can use straight away. No prior music experience is necessary.

AT THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL:

  • Take part in warm-ups for the brain, body and voice
  • Learn simple, practical strategies to engage students in improvisation and creativity, based on the local lands
  • Consider multi-arts and place-based connections to the syllabus
  • Experience a variety of pedagogical approaches used in music learning

Pru Borgert



Pru Borgert is an Australian music educator with 25 years’ experience and a passion for community music making. She enjoys working in pre-school, primary, secondary and tertiary settings. Beyond the music classroom, her activities range from mentoring and resource creation to conducting and professional learning delivery. She is a strong advocate for including more Australian music in schools, particularly respectful music choices from First Nations cultures. Pru is currently researching together with her local First Nations community, on Gumbaynggirr lands, learning how to be a supportive collaborator and advocate for Indigenous voices.
