Practice, Exams, Auditions - You Can Do This!

Our Professional Development workshops give you the confidence and tools to deliver music lessons in the classroom. Covering basic elements from the F-10 music curriculum, you will develop skills, ideas, and activities for immediate use. All events are designed for both generalist classroom teachers and music specialists.

All workshops are curriculum aligned to the relevant State music syllabus and aligned to AITSL Professional Standards for Teachers. Musica Viva Australia is a NESA-recommended provider because we currently run programs that are NESA-accredited.

What makes practice effective? How can we help young musicians prepare for exams, auditions and performances while keeping their love of music at the heart of their learning?

Through live examples, practical demonstrations and hands-on activities, this workshop explores strategies for positive preparation, purposeful practice and confident performance. Designed for primary classroom
teachers, instrumental teachers, ensemble conductors, parents and young musicians, it offers practical ideas as well as inspiration for musicians preparing to take their next steps. For aspiring high school chamber musicians, the workshop will also focus on audition and competition preparation, including applying for Musica Viva Australia's  national chamber music program, Strike a Chord.

AT THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL:

  • Experience live examples and practical demonstrations of effective practice, rehearsal and performance strategies
  • Discover ways to develop effective and independent practice habits
  • Explore how to prepare positively for exams, auditions and performances whilst maintaining the joy of music-making.
  • Through discussion explore how teachers, instrumental tutors and parents can work together to support

"This is the first time I have undertaken digital PD through Musica Viva and it was fantastic. I live in a rural town and do not always have the opportunities to receive high quality PD in my area."
