The Doric String Quartet. Four voices, an infinite range of expression.

One of the finest quartets of their generation, London’s Doric String Quartet is all about inspiration, whether they are revisiting a masterpiece by Beethoven, or exploring a new work destined to become a classic.  Maia, Ying, Emma and John bring ‘sumptuous sweetness and laser-like clarity’ to Beethoven’s rich and strange String Quartet in F Major, Op. 59 No. 1 ‘Razumovsky’, and a delicate intimacy to early works by much-loved British composer Benjamin Britten.

Then they invite you take an atmospheric walk through the streets of London when they perform Alchymia, a beguiling quintet for strings and basset clarinet by British composer Thomas Adès. Australian star clarinettist Lloyd Van’t Hoff, ‘a technical and expressive master of his instrument’ (The Age) completes the ensemble.

This is classical music at its finest: precious moments of beauty and exhilaration, played by outstanding international and Australia artists.
"Virtuosic playing, vibrancy of tone, sparkling musical colours and harmonic precision are all on display."
— Limelight
"Time stood still in the Andantino (no one does ppp quite like the Dorics) while the Finale was rendered with pure passion."
— Bachtrack
"Lloyd Van’t Hoff is a technical and expressive master of his instrument."
— The Age
