About the Artist

Nat Bartsch is an ARIA-nominated Australian pianist and composer whose work bridges contemporary classical, jazz, and ambient music.

Nat's music is shaped by her love of storytelling and emotional depth, blending delicate melodies, intricate harmonies, and ambient textures. Her works often explore themes of motherhood, neurodiversity, and wellbeing, with projects like Forever, and No Time At All – a collection of lullabies inspired by music therapy principles – receiving over 10 million streams worldwide. Her 2024 album, Forever Changed, builds upon this, exploring sensory-rich soundscapes that resonate deeply with neurodivergent audiences and beyond.

She has released multiple critically acclaimed albums, gaining recognition for her deeply evocative and lyrical approach to composition and performance. A graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, she has received numerous accolades and has performed at major venues and festivals across Australia and internationally.

Beyond recording and performance, Nat is passionate about music education and community engagement. She regularly presents masterclasses, workshops, and relaxed performances designed to create inclusive and accessible experiences for all audiences. With a unique ability to connect through music, Nat continues to inspire listeners and push creative boundaries, cementing her place as one of Australia’s most compelling contemporary composers and performers.

Nat is experienced in delivering engaging presentations, workshops, masterclasses, and community outreach programmes. She can provide sessions on improvisation, performance, and composition, tailored to different age groups and abilities. Nat is also keen to advocate for neurodiverse people and can do so by hosting neurodivergent artist meet-ups or presenting the story of her neurodivergent journey – outlined in her Peggy Glanville-Hicks Address (complete video available here) for the Australian Music Centre. Nat is keen to work with school-aged students.

School holidays preferred.

All live performances of Forever Changed use lighting, video and sound that are intended to reflect neurodivergent sensory needs. In Relaxed Performance settings, this is expanded to include additional supports to assist all audience members to enjoy the show.

Forever Changed is a surround-sound show that is scalable to suit a diversity of venues and spaces. It can be presented in a purpose-built spatial audio venue, with 4- to 8-channel surround-sound in a flat floor space using an existing stereo system with additional surround speakers, or using stereo system only.

It is preferable to perform on a grand piano with the lid removed, or upright piano with silk applied to strings to create a felted sound (Nat can install). A digital piano version is possible for festival stages and community spaces.
