Our Vision
A music-rich future for all Australians.

Our Purpose
To connect all Australians to something bigger than themselves: to powerful music which awakens the spirit.

Our Mission
With chamber music at our artistic core, Musica Viva Australia creates memorable musical experiences for audiences at every stage of life and for musicians at every stage of development through Concerts, Education programs and Emerging Artist programs.

Statement of Works

Musica Viva Australia In Schools (MVAIS) is a national program that provides live music incursions and digital learning resources to primary schools. More information on our program can be found here.

Each year, we develop new shows and digital learning resources as part of our program. We invite Expressions of Interest from existing groups of musicians to develop new, original shows in 2026/2027, for touring nationally from 2028.

We want to work with musicians who can meet a room full of children with generosity, intelligence, and creative daring.  We don’t need you to bring decades of experience, but we do need you to bring the bravery of an explorer, the open heart of a collaborator, and the playful creativity of a child.

In return, Musica Viva Australia will support you with creative development, artistic mentorship, and the infrastructure to bring your vision to life.

You might be:

  • A classical string trio that tells stories through sound.
  • A rock band that builds worlds from ideas.
  • A vocal collective that reimagines how music can be shared.
  • A brass duo that turns audience expectations upside-down.
  • Or something we haven’t imagined yet.

We value:

  • Artistic excellence - your work is intentional, and your ideas sing.
  • Generosity - you make space for wonder, humour and connection.
  • Openness - you’re willing to learn, play, and evolve your practice through collaboration with us.
  • Professionalism – you bring care, reliability, and respect to every creative development session, every venue, and every audience.
  • Diversity - you welcome difference in all its forms, and understand that art and creativity are enhanced by varied perspectives and a sense of shared humanity.
  • Commitment - you’re in it for the long haul. Our ideal collaborators grow with us over several years, developing, refining and touring their work as it reaches our growing audiences across the country.
  • Resilience - MVA touring is rewarding and demanding. You’ll travel widely, perform often, and adapt to diverse spaces and audiences - from regional school libraries, and outdoor learning areas, to specialist school classrooms and 300-seat school theatres.

Operational requirements:

Groups should be able to demonstrate:

  • A stable lineup of between 2-4 committed members, all located in the same city.
  • Availability and flexibility for creative development sessions over 12-14 months
  • Availability and flexibility for a sustained national touring footprint over several years, after creative development.
  • A willingness to engage with diverse audiences in a range of settings.
  • Eagerness to work collaboratively with MVAIS creative and operations teams.
  • A professional and timely approach to scheduling, communication, and touring logistics.

Musica Viva Australia is family-friendly and flexible, and committed to equity and inclusion. We welcome expressions of interest from First Nations people and people from diverse cultural and regional communities.

We welcome expressions of interest from people who identify as having a disability. If at any stage of the process you require any accommodation due to a disability, please let us know.
